In addition to stitching, what other ways can attach fabrics to create a three-dimensional garment? Without considering usage and operation, the conceptual piece focuses on the innovative structure in an avant-garde design and style to demonstrate an imagination of clothing in the future.

A New Way to Join Fabric & Create Clothes
By overlaying fabrics on the buckles, then pushing them through the diamond-shaped holes on the PVC, the fabrics can be joined and converted into a 3D garment.

Fabric Joining Structure Inspiration
I discovered an interesting approach based on pushing fabrics through a hole and decided to develop an experimental concept that can highlight the structure.

Draping and Structural Studies
Through draping and folding, I experimented on different silhouettes and the position and quantity of buckles. The final outcome was created from two pieces of cloth, which can be joined and transformed into a 3D garment by combining with the buckle.

Buckle Form Exploration
The buckle form was inspired by a spine, since they have the common feature of framing. Sheet prototypes and 3D printed buckle models were constructed to test stability and shapes.

Material Exploration
Through PVC dyeing, texture layering, and fabric exploration, I found that the combination of fluorescent blue PVC with translucent buckles and white space cotton best creates a futuristic style.
The visual elements of this project were designed to be futuristic and imaginative, including the form of garment, styling, and photography.
